Road Closures for the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon will be in place from 08:45 until 16:00.
The roads affected are:
- Markeaton Lane
- A38 sliproad onto Kedleston Road
- Kedleston Road from the junction of Markeaton Lane to Five Lamps (both sides of road)
- Garden St (both lanes)
- A6 sliproad off St Alkmunds Way
- Queen St
- St Mary’s Gate
- Jury St
- Walker Lane
- Cathedral Road
Cars will not be able to access Kedleston Road from the A38 sliproad after 08:45.
Cars will not be able to access the A6 from St Alkmunds Way after 08:45.
Access in to the city centre from the A6 at Palm Court Island should not be affected.
HOWEVER, there will be no right turn for taxis and buses into Queen St from A6/King St due to cyclists on the other side of the road.
West Avenue and St Michael’s Lane will be two way for the duration of the event.
Residents along the route have been informed and special parking arrangements made for those who are implicitly affected by the road closures.
Access to The Willows Sports Centre will remain open throughout the day. Entrance will be via Curzon St / Cheapside onto Bold Lane. Please take the entrance to Bold Lane Car Park (DE1 3NT) where a marshal will direct you onto a slip road that will take you to the Sports Centre.

|PLEASE NOTE THE UNIVERSITY OF DERBY CAR PARK IS WITHIN THE ROAD CLOSURE ZONE. YOU ARE ABLE TO PARK YOUR CAR UP UNTIL 08:45 BUT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE AGAIN UNTIL APPROX 16:00 WHEN THE EVENT FINISHES AND THE ROADS ARE OPEN AGAIN.
SPACES IN THE MAIN CAR PARK AT MARKEATON ARE VERY LIMITED AND MUST BE LEFT AVAILABLE FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO USE ALTERNATIVE CAR PARKS AS OUTLINED ABOVE.
*PARKING UPDATE: We have been allowed to use part of one of the fields in the park, weather permitting, for spectators and people who intend staying in the park all day. If you are entering the park from A38, take the first drive on your right and marshals will be able to guide you to a parking spot (limited to 200 cars). Parking charge is £4 for the day and will go to Barnardo’s.
|As parking at the park is limited people are encouraged to park in the city centre and travel out to the park via bus, bike or foot. Trent Barton will be arranging regular buses from the bus station to Markeaton Park on the hour, every hour. However, the Allestree bus service will be diverted away from Kedleston Road onto Mansfield Road. Route updates can be found on www.trentbarton.co.uk/updates.
City Centre Car Parks
All Car parks in the City will remain open during the day. The only changes to access will be for:
· Chapel Street Car Park (access via St Alkmunds Way / Cathedral Rd onto Chapel St)
· Bold Lane Car Park (access via Curzon St / Cheapside onto Bold Lane)
No Allestree service along Kedleston Road inbound or outbound. Diversionary route will be in place.
THE SIXES service along Duffield Road (from Belper) will only be able to go inbound (from the Palm Court island into the city centre) the outbound service (from the city centre) will have to divert via Mansfield Road.

Access to Markeaton Crematorium will be limited due to the road closure, access via the footpath from Ashbourne Rd (A52) will be open, to ensure less able visitors are given the usual 5 hours access to the Book of Remembrance facilities the opening times will be extended until 9pm.
